About- Research group interdisciplinary approach integrates the fields of genetics, cell biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, systems biology and translational medicine. The CGA provides a strong research environment and a cutting-edge training programme to meet this challenge. 

Research group offer young scientists of exceptional talent a structured PhD training in biomedical disciplines within an international environment. Principle investigators are internationally recognized scientists carrying out ground-breaking research, covering a broad range of expertise. New facilities with state-of-the-art technologies provide excellent infrastructure for training and research. The doctoral programme is comprised of seminars and courses in ageing research, writing and presentation training as well as practical career development opportunities. The CGA strives to foster scientific independence in our students by immersing them in high quality research, and encouraging critical thinking skills, lively exchange with other scientists and active participation. Our doctoral candidates receive a work contract for the duration of the programme. All communication and courses are conducted in English.

Location- Cologne Graduate School of Ageing Research, Germany

Eligibility/Qualification–Research group international and interdisciplinary faculty offers positions in the areas of cell or molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, bioinformatics, bioengineering, pharmacology, neuroscience medical biology, translated medicine or related fields. Research group invite applicants with a Master’s or equivalent degree of the above mentioned or related fields. Applicants with a degree in medicine are equally welcome to apply provided they have sufficient relevant research experience. Furthermore, candidates require excellent written and spoken English skills (C1 level).

The programme is highly selective and invites outstanding university graduates wishing to work towards a PhD in the fields of ageing and age-related diseases to become part of the vibrant and international research scene in the Cologne/Bonn area.

Candidates are selected based on their academic qualifications and research accomplishments. 25 candidates will be invited to an on-site selection week. Selected candidates can start their PhD position between July and October 2019. All accepted students will be enrolled through the University of Cologne.
