Postdoctoral Research Associates in Religion and Politics: The John C. Danforth Center on Religion and Politics at Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for up to two postdoctoral fellowships. These fellowships are open to junior scholars and recent Ph.D. graduates, with a focus on religion and politics in the United States. The appointment is for one year, renewable for a second year.

Location: John C. Danforth Center on Religion and Politics, Washington University in St. Louis (Saint Louis, Missouri)

Eligibility/Qualification: Applicants must hold a doctorate in religious studies, politics, anthropology, law, philosophy, theology, American studies, history, Jewish studies, Islamic studies, sociology, or another relevant field. The Ph.D. should be completed by July 1, 2024, and no earlier than January 1, 2019. Exceptional cases may be considered for those with a Ph.D. prior to 2019 or a J.D. without a Ph.D.

Job Description: Research associates will primarily focus on their research and writing projects, participate in the Danforth Center’s biweekly interdisciplinary seminar, and engage in events hosted by the Center. Teaching responsibilities include developing one course per year and possibly assisting in an additional course, aligning with the Center’s curricular offerings.

Salary Range: Competitive salary commensurate with experience; approximately $57,000/annually.
