About- Indian Institute of Petroleum & Energy (IIPE), an Institute of National Importance at par with IITs and IIMs and enacted by Parliament vide the Indian Institute of Petroleum & Energy Act, 2017 (No: 3 of 2018), requires faculty for its various academic units.

Eligibility/Qualification–
- ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION
Ph.D. with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with consistently very good academic record throughout.
2. EXPERIENCE
Applications are accepted throughout the year. Candidates may apply at any time. Based on the needs of the Institute in a particular area, from time to time shortlisting and interviews will be conducted among the available applicants in that area. Eligibility and experience will be reckoned as and when the Institute shortlists the applications.
2.1. PROFESSOR
At least 10 years industrial / research / teaching experience of which at least 4 years should be at the level of Associate Professor in IITs, IISc Bangalore, IIMs, NITIE Mumbai and IISERs or at an equivalent level in any such other Indian or foreign institution(s) of comparable standards.
2.2. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
At least 6 years industrial / research / teaching experience of which at least 3 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor Grade-I or equivalent positions in IITs, IISc Bangalore, IIMs, NITIE Mumbai and IISERs or in any such other Indian or Foreign Institution(s) of comparable standards.
2.3. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (GRADE – I)
At least 3 years industrial / research / teaching experience after PhD and excluding the experience gained while pursuing Ph.D. Candidate should have good publications and teaching potential.
2.4. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (GRADE – II)
Candidates with Ph.D. degree who do not fulfil the minimum experience requirement for the post of Assistant Professor (Grade – I), or are judged to be not ready for such a post yet, based on research record and/or performance in the interview, may be appointed as Assistant Professor (Grade – II) at pay level – 10 or pay level -11 as per 7th CPC. Such offers may be elevated to Assistant Professor (Grade – I) after a due process.
AGE
Candidates for Assistant Professor Grade I should be preferably below 38 years of age and candidates for Assistant Professor Grade II should be preferably below 35 years and for Associate Professors should be preferably below 45 years. For the post of Professor, the candidates should be preferably below 55 years. The age shall be calculated as and when the Institute shortlists the applications. Age relaxation shall be extended to the SC/ST/OBCNCL and PwD candidates as per the Government of India norms.

Note:
- Assistant Professor (Grade-I) on completion of 3 years of service shall move to Level 13A1 of Pay Matrix and will, however, continue to be designated as Assistant Professor of Grade I.
- Depending upon the qualifications and experience, a higher starting salary may be offered in deserving cases based on the recommendations of the Selection Committee and at the discretion of the Board of Governors of IIPE.
- Probation: Period of probation for Assistant Professor (Grade-I), Associate Professor and Professor shall be normally one year. However, the Institute may extend it if found necessary. For Assistant Professor (Grade-II), probation period is not applicable as this post is on contract basis.
- Assistant Professor (Grade-II) appointed in the Academic Pay Level 10 shall move to Academic Pay Level 11 after completion of one-year service, and after three years of service and performance evaluation by an appropriate committee shall move to Academic Pay Level 12 as Assistant Professor Grade-I.
- Assistant Professor (Grade-II) appointed in the Academic Pay Level 11 at Cell 10 shall move to Academic Pay Level 12 as Assistant Professor (Grade-I) after two years of service and performance evaluation by an appropriate committee.
Assistant Professor (Grade-II) appointed in the Academic Pay Level 11 at Cell 11 shall move to Academic Pay Level 12 as Assistant Professor (Grade-I) after one year of service and performance evaluation by an appropriate committee
There is no application fee.
Separate application must be submitted if a candidate is applying for a faculty position in more than one Department. If the Institute finds that the candidate is deemed fit for another department, then the application will be considered in the appropriate department.
RECRUITMENT PROCESS
Advertisement for faculty recruitment is rolling. That means, one can apply any time during the year. However, applications will be processed based on the Institute requirements from time to time. Applications received till March 31, 2023 will be screened for the next round of recruitment process.
