The National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC) was established in 1986 to extend the knowledge base required for effective treatment of individuals with alcohol and other drug related problems and to enhance the overall research capacity in the drug and alcohol field.

Eligibility/Qualification- To be successful in this role you will have: 

  • PhD completed (or submitted) in a public health, epidemiology or behavioral science discipline.
  • Demonstrable project management skills and experience in clinical research, Human Research Act, ICH-GCP guidelines.
  • Experience with statistical analyses and packages including R, STATA and/or SAS. 
  • Excellent written, communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.

Job/Position Description-

  • $73K to $98K plus 9.5% Superannuation and annual leave loading.
  • Fixed Term for 4 months from 1 June 2018 with the possibility of an extension.
  • Full-time (35 hours per week).

This is a “Trial Coordinator” role. The successful candidate will be expected to oversee and manage operation of a randomised clinical trial, funded by the Australian Department of Health, to test the efficacy of a brief smoking intervention for prison inmates in the Northern Territory. This will include recruitment and follow up, maintaining key stakeholder relationships, ensuring research methodology compliance and maintaining the existing database.
