About- Chartered by law in 1961, the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities acts as a national focal point for Israeli scholarship in both the natural sciences and the humanities. The Academy consists of approximately 115 of Israel’s most distinguished scientists and scholars, who, with the help of the Academy’s staff and committees, monitor and promote Israeli intellectual excellence, advise the government on scientific planning, fund and publish research of lasting merit, and maintain active contact with the broader international scientific and scholarly community. The fellowships are limited to researchers in the natural sciences, exact sciences, medicine, life sciences and engineering.
Candidates should be foreign (non-Israeli) citizens who reside abroad at the time of submission and should be no more than 3 months in Israel when they begin their fellowships.
Candidates may be no longer than 4 years after attaining their PhD at the time of application (not including maternity leave).
Job/Position Description- The Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities is pleased to announce that two-year postdoctoral fellowships for excellent foreign researchers will be awarded in the amount of $45,000 per fellowship per year. The fellowships will be awarded to outstanding scholars in the fields of natural sciences, exact sciences, medicine, life sciences and engineering.
Nominations will be received solely from university rectors who are invited to propose up to five candidates each.
The IASH will fund $22,500 for each fellowship. The recipient researcher will receive at least $22,500 matching from the hosting university.
Universities are encouraged to raise the fellowships even higher to accentuate their excellence
The university must confirm acceptance of the postdoc.
The host researcher will submit an annual report on the advancement and achievements of the postdoc’s research. The host researcher and the institute must report any change in or termination of the research.
The Academy will transfer an advance payment of 40% to the university by November 1 st and the final payment of 60% following receipt of the annual report of the host researcher at the end of the year.
The funding will be transferred directly through the university to the postdoc.
It is the responsibility of the university to provide the requested matching funds. The funds (including the matching) will not be subjected to any overhead.
The awardees will participate in an annual meeting and social events to be organized by the IASH.
The program will start on September 1st 2019. The duration is September 1st through August 31st of every year.
