Postdoctoral Researcher in Prostate Cancer: The Department of Medical Biosciences at Umeå University is seeking a dedicated Postdoctoral Researcher to join their dynamic team for translational studies in aggressive prostate cancer. This temporary position offers an excellent opportunity to conduct independent research, contribute to ongoing projects, and advance scientific understanding in the field. The successful candidate will work closely with a collaborative research group investigating genetic and epigenetic mechanisms underlying prostate cancer metastasis.

Postdoctoral Researcher in Pathology with a Focus on Cancer Research, Primarily Metastatic Prostate Cancer

Location: Umeå University, Umeå, Sweden


  • Ph.D. or equivalent qualification in medical bioscience or related field.
  • Strong background in biomedical experimental science with expertise in bioinformatic analysis methods.
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research team.
  • Experience with highly sensitive immunohistochemical methods for biomarker detection in complex samples.

Job Description:

  • Conduct independent research on molecular biological mechanisms underlying metastatic prostate cancer, focusing on genetic and epigenetic changes.
  • Analyze biobank samples, perform bioinformatics analysis of large-scale data matrices, and evaluate potential treatment strategies in experimental model systems.
  • Participate in the supervision of doctoral students and students, seminars, journal clubs, and other research group activities.
  • Prepare and publish scientific articles, and present findings at international meetings.
  • Potentially contribute to teaching and supervision at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels.
