Eligibility/Qualification–

A Ph.D. in atmospheric science, climate physics, environmental science

Essential Experience:

  • Experience in development, maintenance or extensive use of computational and geospatialsoftware.
  • Experience in handling big data along with knowledge of NetCDF data format in CDO, NCL,GrADS, FERRET.
  • Experience in geospatial analysis.   Process and analyze large datasets generated from modelsimulations and observations to extract meaningful insights.

Desirable Skills:   Strong background in numerical modeling, data analysis, and programming (e.g., Python, Fortran, C++)

Project title: PAVITRA an air pollution intervention tool for India

About the project: PAVITRA – Air pollution management and intervention tool for India is a project to develop a new platform (SMoG in MAP India) to radically broaden access to robust air pollution intervention modeling in India.

Job Profile:

  • The successful candidate will be part of the PAVITRA group of researchers at IITB. The specific position will be responsible
  • For initialising and developing ISRM/InMAP
  • For multi-scale, sectoral interventions for air pollution mitigation and climate co-benefits.
  • Work will involve studying technology availability, their readiness level and suitability to address air pollution problems.
  • Candidate will develop scenarios and research their consequences in the future through system simulations,
  • Collect relevant data and perform model validation.
  • Additionally, the candidate is expected to collaborate with a team, contribute to developing research publications, and independently interface with an international team of collaborators.

Pay Details:

Consolidated salary range from Rs.72,000 to Rs 84,000 pm + 24% HRA (if applicable) p.m.

General information:

The position is temporary for a period of 1 year and tenable only for the duration of the project. The appointment is for time bound project and the candidate is required to work mainly for the successful completion of the project. The selection committee may offer lower or higher designation and lower or higher salary depending upon the experience and performance of the candidate in the interview.
