2 PhD Student Positions: The University of Potsdam, as part of the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center CRC 1644 on “Phenotypic plasticity in plants – mechanisms, constraints and evolution,” is recruiting two PhD students. The positions focus on studying the phenotypic plasticity to high temperature in the Capsella genus, contributing to a deeper understanding of plant adaptation to variable environments.

- Characterize molecular and morphological reaction norms of thermotolerance in natural Capsella accessions.
- Employ quantitative genetic analysis to identify loci underlying natural variation of thermotolerance.
- Characterize identified genes and their mode of action molecularly.
- Investigate whether phenotypic plasticity in thermotolerance is adaptive in local conditions.
- Integrate data with results about plasticity to temperature from other projects.
