2 YEAR FUNDED POST-DOCTORAL: The Biology of Intracellular Bacteria Unit (BBI) at Institut Pasteur is offering a postdoctoral position under the supervision of Prof. Carmen Buchveser to investigate how intracellular bacteria subvert macrophage immunometabolism using comparative patho-metabolomics. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art metabolomics, high-dimensional immunophenotyping, and robust computational analyses to explore the interactions of human primary macrophages with Salmonella enterica ser. Typhimurium and Legionella pneumophila.
Summary Table:
- Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher
- Research Area: Cellular biology, cellular microbiology, mass spectrometry, and/or metabolomics
- Location: Institut Pasteur, Paris, France
- Eligibility/Qualification: PhD in a relevant field, experience in one or more of the following areas: cellular biology, cellular microbiology, mass spectrometry, and/or metabolomics
- Duration: 2 years (funded through a PTR grant awarded by Dr. Pedro Escall and starting in January 2026)
Job Description: The selected postdoctoral researcher will investigate the impact of Legionella pneumophila, an intracellular bacterium responsible for Legionnaires’ disease, on the metabolic pathways of infected human macrophages. The primary goal is to identify the specific metabolomic pathways that are subverted by intracellular bacteria during macrophage infection and their impact on immunometabolism. This research will involve the use of cutting-edge metabolomics techniques, high-dimensional immunophenotyping, and advanced computational analyses to understand the intricate interactions at play.
How to Apply: Interested candidates should reach out to Dr. Pedro Escall at (email address) with a cover letter expressing their motivation for this position, along with their research interests, a comprehensive CV, and up to three recommendation letters.
Last Date for Application: 20 October 2023
