2-years Post-Doc: QTL: We offer a 2-year position for a post-doctoral fellow to enhance our ability to study the genetic architecture of complex traits by developing a new method to analyze the distribution of the effect sizes of Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL). This computational position involves statistical modeling, method development, and performance assessment using simulated data. The candidate will work with the École Pratique des Hautes Études (PSL University) at the Institute for Systematics, Evolution, Biodiversity (ISYEB) within the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle (MNHN) in Paris, funded by the EvoGenArch ERC Starting Grant.
Post-Doc: Development of a new method to study the distribution of the effect sizes of QTL
Designation: Post-Doctoral Fellow
Research Area: Biological sciences » Biodiversity
Location: Paris, France
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Education Level: PhD or equivalent in statistical genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, or related fields.
- Skills/Qualifications: Strong research activity with publications, ability to work in a scientific team, experience in statistical genetics/statistical development, proficiency in a programming language (preferably compiled) and a data analysis language (R/Python/Julia), background in quantitative genetics preferred.
- Languages: Good proficiency in English.
Job Description:
The post-doctoral fellow will primarily focus on computational tasks, including:
- Developing a statistical method to infer the distribution of QTL effect sizes using phenotypic and genomic data.
- Testing the method’s performance against existing approaches using simulated data.
- Empirically testing the method’s relevance by re-analyzing a published dataset.
