Job Description
Within the ERC Advanced Grant Project Dynamics on and of Random Graphs (Dynamics.oRG), researchers will study phase transitions of stochastic processes on random graphs. These processes serve as mathematical models for diverse phenomena, including infection spread and consensus reaching. Key research challenges include understanding the double randomness of stochastic processes occurring on the random environment formed by random graphs—determining when, why, and how random environments alter phase transition behaviors.
As a Postdoc in this project, your core responsibilities include:
- Conducting cutting-edge mathematical research both collaboratively and on your dedicated project.
- Working closely in a dynamic team consisting of PhD students, fellow Postdocs, and international collaborators.
- Mentoring and coaching PhD candidates and Master’s students.
- Contributing to societal outreach and the impact of network theory mathematics.
- Engaging in relevant teaching skill development.
Eligibility and Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- A PhD degree in probability theory, statistical mechanics, random graphs, or a closely related domain.
- A proven track record of high-quality academic research supported by publications.
- High intrinsic motivation to pursue innovative mathematical research.
- Strong collaborative skills and an interest in mentoring Master’s and PhD students.
- Motivation to develop university teaching and didactics capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex research projects effectively and meet timelines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, alongside good leadership skills.
Salary and Benefits
- Gross monthly salary ranging from €4,422 to €5,760 (Scale 10, Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities).
- Annual benefits including an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus.
- Generous annual leave allowance: 29 days (standard 38-hour week), expandable to 41 days via flexible working hour arrangements.
- Subsidized pension scheme through ABP (TU/e covers 70% of premiums).
- Support programs for international recruits, including an Expat Tax Scheme, moving allowance, and assistance from the Staff Immigration Team.
- Access to on-campus child day care, sports facilities, mental health support (OpenUp), and the TU/e Postdoc Association.
How to Apply
Applications must be submitted online through the TU/e official recruitment portal. Applications sent via post or email will not be considered.
Please prepare and upload the following documents:
- Cover Letter: Detailing your research background, qualifications, and motivation for joining the project.
- Curriculum Vitae: Full academic CV including an updated list of publications.
- Letters of Recommendation: Three reference letters addressing your research competencies, mathematical background, and educational aptitude.
