Eligibility/Qualification

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Life Sciences, or a related field
  • Strong motivation and interest in molecular infection biology and interdisciplinary research

  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team

Description

The selected PhD candidates will engage in innovative research projects under the CSSB’s “Teams Against Infections” initiative. Candidates will benefit from co-supervision by two advisors from different disciplines, promoting a collaborative environment. The program is designed to address significant research questions related to how pathogens evade host defenses, develop resistance to treatments, and proliferate in clinically relevant environments.

The CSSB is part of a global research initiative, employing cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, structural biology, and advanced imaging techniques (e.g., electron cryo-microscopy, fluorescent microscopy) to study pathogens and host interactions. The PhD positions come with a salary at 65% of grade 13, full social security, and healthcare benefits.
