4-Year Postdoctoral Position on Subsoil Health and Ecosystem Services

Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD degree in plant/soil/environmental physics
- Track record of qualitative academic publishing
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively in international, multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary environments
- Significant experience in quantitative analysis of environmental datasets and/or modeling
- Proficiency in utilizing Matlab, R, or Python
- Excellent oral and written skills in English; additional knowledge of French is desirable
- Must not have been a Belgian resident for the last 3 years
Job Description:
- Develop research on subsoil health and optimal management, including the development and validation of holistic indices of subsoil health and investigating sustainable subsoil practices
- Quantify the impact of subsoil management practices on ecosystem service benefits and work on the interactions between subsoil properties and root development
- Write scientific articles for peer-reviewed journals, present results in international conferences, and co-organize scientific and teaching events
- Assist in coordinating and organizing project-related agendas, deliverables, milestones, and deadlines; manage communication between the team and project partners; and plan, edit, and submit scientific review manuscripts
