Scholarship Description:
Integrating Complex Multi-Layer Data to Accurately Predict Breeding Values for Methane Emission in Cows
The project aims to predict breeding values for methane emission in cows by integrating complex multi-layer data, including the host genome, rumen microbiome, gene expression, and metabolome. The PhD candidate will play a crucial role in identifying genes, microbiota, and compounds responsive to feed additives, understanding interactions between the host genome and microbiome, studying genetic properties of rumen metabolites, and developing multi-omics models for accurate predictions.
Eligibility: Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in a relevant quantitative field, demonstrate keen interest in quantitative modeling of biological processes, show interest in sustainable agriculture, and possess experience in scientific programming languages such as Julia, R, or Python. Fluency in English, advanced writing, presentation skills, and the ability to work independently are required.
Required Documents:
- Master’s degree certificate
- Research project description (½-4 pages)
- Curriculum Vitae
- Documentation of relevant experience
- List of publications, if any
- Motivation letter
- Contacts of two references
