Postdoc Position – HABITRACK Project: The Institute of Vertebrate Biology in Brno, Czech Republic, announces a Postdoc Position for the HABITRACK project. This initiative, funded by Horizon Europe, focuses on habitat tracking for the conservation of huntable bird species. The project aims to provide insights into the habitat requirements of 14 species, addressing their breeding, stopover, and non-breeding habitats, with the goal of offering recommendations for effective habitat management and conservation.

- Temporal dependencies in the annual cycle of selected species
- Carry-over effects from non-breeding grounds to breeding performance
- Population trends influenced by non-breeding conditions
Location: Brno, Czech Republic
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Deep understanding of data analysis
- Strong interest in avian ecology and conservation
- Experience in data analysis in R and GIS
- Background in animal tracking, remote sensing data, habitat use, bird ecology, and conservation
- Experience in bird handling and tagging (advantageous but not required)
- Proficient in R programming and data analysis
- Excellent scientific publication skills
Job Description:
- Analyze tracking data and high-resolution remote sensing datasets
- Investigate habitat selection effects on spring phenology and breeding performance
- Develop customized R scripts for breeding status identification
- Examine temporal and spatial variations in non-breeding conditions
- Contribute to establishing carry-over effects on reproductive output and population trends
