Eligibility/Qualification:

Job Description: The successful candidate will:

  • Design and conduct laboratory experiments to investigate microplastic-sediment aggregation
  • Perform in-situ measurements in the Ports of Rotterdam and Hamburg to calibrate and validate the model under field conditions
  • Implement parameterization of microplastic-sediment aggregation into the Delft3D modeling software in collaboration with Deltares
  • Evaluate the transport model, assess future scenarios for increasing microplastic concentrations, and identify microplastic sinks in ports
  • Disseminate project results through workshops and presentations to raise awareness about microplastic pollution and recommend effective mitigation strategies
