PhD Position in Oceanography: The Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) invites applications for a PhD position in Observational Physical Oceanography. The research will focus on understanding the role of the ocean in the retreat of sea ice in the Arctic, particularly in the context of the “new Arctic” regime. The successful candidate will work with a unique dataset of temperature, salinity, and velocity from the upper central Arctic Ocean over the past 20 years, aiming to establish the basin-scale distribution of upward ocean heat fluxes and investigate changes in heat fluxes between ice, mixed layer, and warm Atlantic Water.
Designation: PhD Researcher
Research Area: Observational Physical Oceanography – Arctic Sea Ice Retreat
