PhD Student in Hydrologic Extremes: The WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF, part of the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research (WSL) in collaboration with the Department of Environmental Systems Science at ETH Zurich, is seeking a motivated PhD student for a project on “Riverine heatwaves under climate change.” The project, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), aims to investigate the occurrence, drivers, future changes, and risks associated with riverine heatwaves in Europe. The successful candidate will work with a dynamic group focusing on Hydrology and Climate Impacts in Mountain Regions.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- MSc degree in hydrology, environmental sciences or engineering, climate sciences, statistics, or a closely related field
- Experience with machine learning and large datasets
- Programming skills (e.g., Python, R)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Motivated to work in an interdisciplinary and international environment
- Enthusiastic about living in a diverse mountain environment
Job Description:
