Postdoctoral Position – Smart Biotherapeutics: Join Vhemsy Bio Herc’s ChemSynBio group in Barcelona to contribute to cutting-edge research on the generation of Smart Biotherapeutics. This project, funded by the European Research Council, focuses on developing reversible masking methods based on chemogenetic approaches to create conditionally-active proteins targeting brain tumors. The team is dedicated to advancing biomolecular engineering, with a primary goal of enhancing the transport of biotherapeutics across the blood-brain barrier.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD degree in chemistry, biotechnology, pharmacy, or a related field.
- Required experience in molecular biology and some knowledge of chemistry.
- Bonus experience in antibody/protein engineering, organic/peptide/bioorthogonal chemistry, computational skills, and cellular assays.
- Strong interest in working with proteins and peptides for therapeutic purposes.
- Self-motivation, proactivity, and creativity.
- Team spirit, good social skills, and excellent communication skills in English.
Job Description: The selected candidate will be responsible for designing, cloning, producing, and characterizing conditionally-active proteins. Additionally, testing their functionality and assessing their blood-brain barrier transport capacity using cell models will be a key focus. The position offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic, international team, fostering collaboration and pushing the boundaries of knowledge in biomolecular engineering.
Contract Details:
- Two years of guaranteed funding.
- Support for applying to additional funding opportunities (e.g., MSCA) with experience as a fellow, host, and evaluator.
