Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology, or a related field
- Experience or strong interest in molecular microbiology and laboratory techniques, including next-generation sequencing
- Collaborative spirit to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team and with clinical partners
- Experience in innovative experimental design
- Strong organizational skills to manage complex workflows and data collection processes
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to present research findings effectively
- Proficiency in bioinformatics, bacterial and yeast identification, and AMR marker detection is highly desirable
- Experience in international collaboration or time spent abroad
- Previous experience in supervising technicians, master students, and PhD students
- Grant writing experience
Job Description: The Postdoc will:
- Design and establish patient inclusion criteria and relevant outcome parameters for data collection
- Conduct comparative analysis of AMR prediction results using short-read and long-read sequencing technologies
- Develop and standardize a comprehensive end-to-end workflow for profiling pathogens and detecting AMR from pre-enriched cultures
- Collect and integrate clinical data alongside standard-of-care diagnostics and sequencing data
- Perform in-depth data analysis to compare the efficacy of sequence-based diagnostics with standard-of-care methods
- Identify and evaluate critical steps within the diagnostic process affecting time-to-result, on-demand access, and reliable workflow stopping points
- Supervise the PhD student(s) recruited for this project
- Collaborate closely with researchers, technicians, and international partners in the field of clinical microbiology and infection control
What We Offer:
- Four-year Postdoc position with an initial one-year contract, extendable based on performance
