Postdoc Position in Organic Photochemistry: The Department of Chemistry – Ångström at Uppsala University is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in Organic Photochemistry. The research focuses on the development of novel approaches for the production of sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs). The project involves a combined photobiological-photochemical approach to monoterpenoids, contributing to the ALFAFUELS project funded by the European Commission.
Postdoc Position in Organic Photochemistry for Sustainable Aviation Fuels
Designation: Postdoctoral Research Associate (Fixed Term)

Location: Uppsala, Sweden
Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD degree in Chemistry or a foreign equivalent obtained by the time of the employment decision
- Advanced experience in organic photochemistry research
- Ability to conduct independent research with a focus on scientific skill
- Good collaborative skills, drive, and independence
Job Description: The Postdoctoral Research Associate will:
- Conduct research on various photocatalyst systems for isoprene photodimerization
- Identify the optimal catalyst for larger-scale application
- Contribute to the development of a pilot-scale photochemical reactor at RISE Processum AB, Örnsköldsvik, Sweden
- Participate in the development of the isoprene transfer process at RISE Processum AB
- Engage in activities of the ALFAFUELS consortium and actively transfer knowledge to other partners
Desirable Qualifications:
- Additional experience in inorganic materials synthesis
- Experience in scale-up of organic processes to pilot-scale (multi-liter scale)
About the Employment:
- Temporary position for 2 years according to the central collective agreement
- Full-time employment (100%)
- Starting date: May 1 or as agreed
- Placement: Uppsala, Sweden
