Postdoctoral Research Fellow: San Francisco State University’s Anand Lab is hiring a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to contribute to original research in microbiome characterization of wastewater and related environments, focusing on phage and host interactions. The position involves cutting-edge molecular and computational approaches to identify phages in wastewater samples, including those associated with pathogens. This project, partly funded by the Department of Energy, collaborates closely with the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. The ideal candidate should possess substantial knowledge in molecular biology and genomics, recent PhD graduation, creative thinking, and a willingness to collaborate in a large, diverse research team exploring global viral monitoring, computational biology, phage therapeutics, and new vaccine discovery.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in molecular biology, WBE (wastewater-based epidemiology), bacteriology/microbiology, and genomics.

Job Description: The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will:

  • Generate new experimental paradigms and design controlled experiments.
  • Analyze molecular data, utilizing computational tools for sequence information and protein antigen design.
  • Stay updated on the latest literature and actively participate in group meetings to discuss findings.
  • Write scientific manuscripts and grants.
  • Present research results and attend conferences.
