Scholarship Description: This Earmarked scholarship project aligns with a recently awarded Australian Government grant. The successful candidate will receive a living stipend of $33,641 per annum (tax-free, 2024 rate), indexed annually, along with tuition fee coverage and single overseas student health cover (OSHC). The project, led by Dr Rhia Stone, aims to develop molecular diagnostics using fluorescent tracers for Positron Emission Tomography (PET) whole-body imaging, potentially leading to a paradigm shift in infection detection and treatment.
Eligibility: Applicants will be assessed on a competitive basis, considering their previous academic record, publication history, honors and awards, and employment history. A working knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry is essential, with practical experience in constructing small molecules being beneficial. Background or knowledge in synthetic chemistry, radiochemistry, microbiology, antimicrobial resistance, and mouse handling is highly desirable.
