PhD Student Molecular Parasitology: The Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine, Germany’s largest research institute for tropical medicine, invites applications for a highly motivated PhD student to join the Molecular Parasitology group led by Dr. Joachim Michael Matz. Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Diploma/Master’s degree or equivalent in life sciences.
  • Background in molecular and cellular biology.

Job Description: The successful candidate will engage in a doctoral project aiming to characterize the role of SNARE proteins in parasite development, protein secretion, and host cell remodeling in Plasmodium falciparum. The project involves comprehensive training in molecular and cell biology, including the generation of transgenic cell lines and the application of advanced imaging techniques. The goal is to elucidate molecular mechanisms underlying vital pathways in the malaria parasite.
