Postdoctoral Associate- The Kinder Institute: The Kinder Institute for Urban Research (KIUR) at Rice University, located in Houston, TX, is expanding its research centers to focus on key aspects shaping the social and cultural landscape of the Houston area. The Houston Education Research Consortium (HERC), a program of KIUR, is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow with expertise in education research. The position involves designing, planning, and implementing mixed methods research projects in a research-practice partnership (RPP), with a focus on increasing the use of research evidence by school district partners.

Designation: Postdoctoral Associate

Research Area: Education research with a focus on mixed methods, aligned with the research agenda of HERC. The position will involve collaboration with the director, associate directors, and partner school districts.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. or other doctoral degree in Sociology or related fields.
  • Skills in qualitative or mixed methods research.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, collaborate, and motivate others.
  • Excellent technical and data analysis skills.
  • Preferably, experience in partnership research.

Job Description: The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will collaborate closely with HERC’s director, associate directors, and partner school districts to develop and implement mixed methods research projects. Responsibilities include communicating research findings through briefs, papers, presentations, and conferences. The postdoc may supervise and train small research teams and has opportunities to pursue external research grants. The position offers an annual salary of $60,000, office space, necessary technology, and support for project-related conference travel.
