PostDoc Position in Anthropology: The Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology, Department of Anthropology of Economic Experimentation, is inviting applications for a PostDoc Position (100%, TVöD – E13, limited to 4 years) in the Anthropology of Common Concerns. The successful candidate will contribute to advancing the anthropology of common concerns through interdisciplinary research.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. in anthropology or a related discipline, or evidence of successful completion before the designated starting date.
  • Long-term, in-depth field research on a specific social issue with rich ethnographic data.
  • Commitment to reconceptualizing data using the common concerns approach.

Job Description: The selected candidate will engage in:

  • Conducting long-term, in-depth field research on a social issue.
  • Reconceiving accumulated data in line with the common concerns approach.
  • Commitment to broad conceptualization beyond specific case studies.
  • Developing intellectually deep and publicly relevant analyses.
  • Participating in supplementary field research, public engagement, and conferences.
