Postdoctoral Researcher – Societal Impact of Transdisciplinary Research

Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Area: Societal Impact, Transdisciplinary Research, Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy Studies

Location: Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences (ESSB), Rotterdam, Netherlands

Eligibility/Qualification: Prospective candidates should:

  • Hold a Ph.D. degree, preferably in science, technology, and innovation policy studies or related fields.
  • Demonstrate expertise in mixed-methods research, including document research, interviews, focus groups, surveys, and network analysis.
  • Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills in English (C1 level), supported by peer-reviewed publications.
  • Proficiency in Dutch (oral and written) is advantageous.
  • Possess strong organizational skills, initiative, adaptability to dynamic environments, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Display a natural curiosity for different disciplinary cultures.

Job Description: As a Postdoctoral Researcher, your tasks will include:

  1. Reconstructing impact ambitions and pathways of the Convergence and subsequent research.
  2. Assessing how and why impact is realized across the Convergence, evaluating to what extent it meets identified ambitions using a mixed-methods approach.
  3. Stimulating future societal impact by developing assessment instruments, writing reports, and giving presentations.
  4. Using a mixed-method approach, including desk research, surveys, network analysis, interviews, and focus groups, to assess the Convergence’s approach to societal impact.
  5. Developing assessment instruments for future use by the Convergence.
  6. Presenting research findings in a report, presentation, and scientific publication(s).
  7. Co-supervising a junior researcher.
