Location: Kiel University, Germany

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Excellent postdoctoral researchers of any nationality with no more than four years of research experience after completing their doctorate.
  • Compliance with the MSCA mobility rule: Candidates should not have resided or carried out their main activity in Germany for more than 12 months in the three years before the closing date of the call.

Job Description:

  • Develop and submit an original research project proposal linked to Kiel University’s PRAs.
  • Commit to a 36-month full-time employment contract with full social security coverage.
  • Participate in an extensive training program, including two secondments and summer schools.
  • Boost career prospects in the academic, private, and public sectors.

  • Identify potential mentors willing to host the project; contact mentors ahead of proposal submission.
  • Submit proposals with a prospective mentor’s written commitment.
  • Application documents (in English): Application form, Proposal submission form, CV, Ethics assessment, PhD certificate (translated into English if applicable).

Selection Procedure:

  • Two-step merit-based, gender-fair, and transparent online selection procedure.
    • Step 1: External peer review of written proposals (April – June 2024).
    • Step 2: Project presentation and interview (July 2024).
  • Evaluation criteria: Excellence of the applicant and the proposed project (50%), impact of the project (30%), quality, and efficiency of the implementation (20%).

Timeline:

  • March 31, 2024: Call closing
  • April – June 2024: Selection step 1 – Evaluation of written proposals
  • July 2024: Selection step 2 – Project presentation and interview
  • July – August 2024: Funding decision
  • September – November 2024: Fellows’ projects start
