PhD Position: Bio-based Functional Coatings and Films for Food Applications

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Soft Condensed Matter Physics, Physical-chemistry, Colloids Science, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or related disciplines.
- Affinity or experience in using characterization methods (CSLM, TEM, SEM), mechanical characterization, rheological and light scattering (SLS, DLS) experimental techniques.
- Modeling expertise using Python, Matlab is advantageous.
- Fluent in spoken and written English (IELTS min. 7 or TOEFL internet-based min. 90 or similar level).
Description: The PhD candidate will engage in the innovative Bio-LUSH Horizon project, conducting research on developing biobased materials from sustainable fibers. The role involves utilizing characterization methods and experimental techniques for soft condensed systems. The project aims to optimize biomass refining and fibrillation processes to create functional materials. The successful candidate will join Hive, Unilever’s global Foods Innovation Centre, and collaborate with experts, gaining access to state-of-the-art equipment.
