PhD Fellowship in Experimental Immunology: The Department of Immunology, Division of Laboratory Medicine, Institute of Clinical Medicine at the University of Oslo is offering a 3-year position for a Research Fellowship as a PhD Candidate in Experimental Immunology. This fellowship, funded by the European Research Council, focuses on developing novel experimental approaches for analyzing antibody binding at high-throughput using sequencing, library, array, structural, and bioinformatics approaches.

PhD Research Fellowship in Experimental Immunology – University of Oslo

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Master’s degree (120 ECTS) in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Microbiology, or related disciplines with a minimum grade B (ECTS grading scale) or equivalent.
  • Molecular biology experience, including the design of DNA constructs, gene cloning, plasmid preparation, gene expression, and PCR.
  • Experience in techniques for screening plasmid libraries, such as phage display and yeast display, is an advantage.
  • Experience with techniques to isolate and characterize antibodies is an advantage.
  • Experience with flow cytometry and antibody immunology is an advantage.
  • Experience in NGS library preparation and bioinformatics analysis is an advantage.
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong personal skills for collaboration in an interdisciplinary setting.

Description: The candidate will be part of Dr. Greiff’s laboratory (Lab for Computational and Systems Immunology) and Dr. Fridtjof Lund-Johansen’s lab. The research focuses on the quantitative understanding of adaptive immune receptor specificity, aiming to conceive in-silico novel immunodiagnostics and immunotherapeutics. The candidate will contribute to array-based protein analysis, screening for autoantibodies, and analyzing multi-omics data for disease diagnosis.
