PhD Scholarship in Deep Learning: The SickKids Foundation and CIHR-funded research project “Advancing the Understanding and Diagnosis of Childhood Speech-Language Disorders Using Machine Learning” is offering a PhD scholarship for candidates interested in deep learning for identifying speech and language disorders in children. The scholarship provides an opportunity to pursue doctoral studies at Université Laval’s Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering, under the dual supervision of Prof. Cem Subakan and Prof. Selçuk Güven. The successful candidate will conduct research at the Centre de recherche Azrieli du CHU Sainte-Justine in Montreal, affiliated with Prof. Güven’s COALab, and will have an affiliation with Mila-Quebec AI Institute.
PhD Scholarship in Deep Learning for Speech and Language Disorders
Location: Université Laval, Quebec City, Canada, and Centre de recherche Azrieli du CHU Sainte-Justine, Montreal, Canada
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Master’s degree in Computational Neuroscience, Computational Psychiatry, Computational Medicine, Speech-Language Pathology, Bioinformatics, Cognitive Science, or Computer Science with a focus on AI in healthcare
- Strong background in machine learning and deep learning
- Excellent programming skills, particularly in Python and PyTorch
Description: The selected candidate will undertake research in deep learning methods for the identification and treatment of speech and language disorders in children. They will work under the supervision of Prof. Cem Subakan and Prof. Selçuk Güven, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in this critical area.
