Location: Stowers Institute for Medical Research, Kansas City, Missouri, USA

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Doctoral degree in life sciences, computer science, or related field.
  • Experience in molecular and/or developmental biology, genomics, microscopy, and Drosophila genetics (desirable but not required).
  • Proficiency in programming, high-throughput data analysis, or in vivo calcium imaging (especially welcome).
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment.

Job Description: The successful candidates will pursue independent projects focused on investigating gene regulatory networks controlling neuronal cell fate and circuit formation in developing Drosophila brains. Utilizing cutting-edge experimental and computational techniques including single-cell RNA and ATAC sequencing, CRISPR genome editing, deep learning, network modeling, confocal and two-photon live imaging, candidates will contribute to advancing our understanding of brain development. The Özel Lab provides a supportive environment for implementing innovative research directions and technologies, with access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources.
