Research Fellow in Protein Folding, University of Southampton, UK

Postdoctoral Position in UK United Kingdom

Research Fellow in Protein Folding: The School of Biological Sciences is seeking a motivated Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to collaborate on a Leverhulme Trust funded project with Amrit Mudher and Phil Williamson. The project aims to investigate the influence of the cellular milieu on the folding, structure, and function of large molecular complexes, focusing on amyloid fibre structure and integral membrane proteins using innovative methods combining Drosophila melanogaster genetics and modern solid-state NMR techniques.

Research Fellow in In-Vivo Protein Folding

Designation: Research Fellow

Research Area: In-Vivo Protein Folding

Location: Highfield Campus

Eligibility/Qualification: Applicants should possess a PhD in biochemistry or a related discipline, with experience in either Drosophila research and/or solid-state NMR being preferred. Candidates who are nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification will also be considered. Prior experience in protein folding or related fields is advantageous.

Job Description: The successful candidate will contribute to establishing methodologies for the induced expression and labeling of macromolecular complexes, employing a range of NMR techniques to characterize their structure, dynamics, and interactions within the cellular environment of Drosophila melanogaster. The position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge facilities in the School of Biological Sciences, including state-of-the-art equipment for invertebrate research and solid-state NMR.

How to Apply: Interested candidates should send a CV, cover letter, and the contact details of two referees to Prof Amrit Mudher (A.Mudher@soton.ac.uk) or Prof Phil Williamson (P.T.Williamson@soton.ac.uk). Please indicate “Research Fellow in In-Vivo Protein Folding Application” in the subject line.
