Postdoc in Modelling & Bioinformatics: Join a dynamic team at DTU Health Tech, Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark, and contribute to cutting-edge research in systems biology and omics analysis.
Postdoc in Probabilistic Modelling & Bioinformatics
Designation: Postdoc
Research Area: Probabilistic Modelling & Bioinformatics
Location: Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark
Eligibility/Qualification: PhD degree in a relevant field
Job Description: Do you want to be part of a team that’s pushing the boundaries of systems biology? Do you want to help us shape the future of omics analysis? We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic post-doc in bioinformatics to create advanced probabilistic models that will enable better interpretation of omics data by utilizing isoforms-level analysis.
If this sounds interesting, consider joining the Isoform Analysis group in the Section for Bioinformatics at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). Here you will work closely with talented researchers that want to make a difference. Importantly, you will be joining a collaborative group where you get a lot of support but also a lot of autonomy, all within a section where you will get a diverse set of scientific inputs. You can read more about the background and the group at www.healthtech.dtu.dk/Isoform-Analysis.
Responsibilities:
Your objective will be to use probabilistic modeling and machine learning to create bioinformatic tools and databases that enable and inspire other researchers to analyze protein isoforms.
About Us:
My leadership philosophy can be simply stated as: people first. Our research is driven by a passion for science, but never at the expense of personal wellbeing! I firmly believe that science should be an exhilarating and enjoyable journey. Although I am not yet an experienced group leader, I take my role seriously and remain committed to continuous learning.
In our research group, I don’t perceive myself as an authoritative figure who makes all the decisions. Rather, I see myself as a guide and facilitator for you. My primary role is to provide unwavering support to help you achieve our shared goals by navigating the right paths and eliminating obstacles along the way. I am committed to fostering an environment where scientific ideas, diversity and personal growth thrive.
Requirements:
The following requirements must be met by the successful candidate:
- Strong programming skills
- Strong background in probabilistic models or strong math/stats background
- Any of the following features are highly desirable, but not strictly required:
- Experience with developing bioinformatic tools (webserver/package)
- Experience with analyzing large and complex datasets
- Strong background in molecular/cellular biology
- Experience with applied bioinformatics (transcriptomics/proteomics)
As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).
We offer:
DTU is a leading technical university globally recognized for the excellence of its research, education, innovation, and scientific advice.
