Eligibility/Qualification:
- MSc degree (or equivalent) in neuroscience, biomedical sciences, or a related discipline.
- Experience with histological analysis, confocal microscopy, RNA processing, and analysis.
- Experience with mouse experimentation (Article 9 license or equivalent) is a plus.
- Experience with (iPSC) cell culture is a plus.
- Interest in developing coding skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Keen interest in collaborative research.
Job Description:
The selected PhD student will work on the project “Unlock the early-life pathological imprinting of Alzheimer’s disease via lifestyle,” funded by the EU Joint Programme – Neurodegenerative Disease Research and Alzheimer Nederland. The project involves collaboration with five international, multidisciplinary groups specializing in neurology, immunology, microbiology, and cognitive memory. The goal is to define the cellular and molecular impacts of early-life dietary and microbial components, physical exercise, and cognitive training on CNS pathological imprinting and Alzheimer’s disease development. The research will utilize mouse models, human iPSC cultures, and postmortem human brain tissues. This work aims to develop improved prevention and treatment strategies for Alzheimer’s disease. The PhD student will be based at the Salta lab in Amsterdam and may travel for training and collaboration with consortium partners.

Terms of Employment:
- Salary: € 2.770 – € 3.539 gross per month for a full-time appointment.
