Eligibility/Qualification

  • Master’s degree in Physics or Materials Physics
  • Hands-on experience with class-IV lasers and related techniques
  • Basic education in condensed matter physics
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a deep curiosity about fundamental physical phenomena
  • High motivation, self-organization, creativity, and the ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary setting
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-specialists

Job Description

The PhD project aims to advance the fundamental understanding of ferroic order and explore novel types of ferroic domains, such as multiferroicity, altermagnetism, and hidden states. Candidates will:

  • Design and set up nonlinear-optical experiments using pulsed laser systems
  • Perform spatially resolved imaging and manipulation of domains in various ferroic materials
  • Troubleshoot and maintain laser setups and conduct experiments in cryogenic environments
  • Engage with other experimental techniques and theoretical discussions
  • Work in an interdisciplinary team environment and communicate findings effectively
