Designation: PhD Candidate in Absorption-Based CO2 Capture Focusing on Solvent Management
Research Area:
The selected candidate will investigate solvent management technologies in amine-based CO2 capture plants, with a specific emphasis on managing solvent degradation and equipment corrosion. The research will involve process modeling, simulation, and experimental work to develop technical solutions for controlling and limiting corrosion and degradation in CO2 capture processes.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- A professionally relevant background in Chemical Engineering or equivalent
- A master’s degree equivalent to a five-year Norwegian degree program, with a strong academic background (average grade B or better compared with NTNU’s grading scale)
- Experience using process simulation tools such as Aspen Plus, Aspen Hysys, or similar, and proficiency in modeling using Matlab, Python, or equivalent
- Familiarity with absorption processes and a strong foundation in chemical engineering principles
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
Job Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting independent research, including literature review, process simulation, modeling, and experimental work related to solvent management in absorption-based CO2 capture processes. The duties also include evaluating various solvent management technologies, presenting research findings internally and externally, publishing results in recognized scientific journals, and participating in the mandatory PhD research education program.
