Doctoral Scholarship Opportunity in Biology: Örebro University’s School of Science and Technology is offering a doctoral scholarship opportunity in Biology. This opportunity involves conducting research on molecular mechanisms underlying plant perception and integration of multiple light signals. The successful candidate will be involved in multidisciplinary research at the Örebro Life Science Centre.
Designation: Doctoral Student in Biology
Research Area:
The doctoral project aims to elucidate molecular mechanisms underlying plant perception and integration of multiple light signals, focusing on plant responses to UV radiation and visible light, utilizing genetic, molecular, and genomic approaches.
Location:
Örebro University, Örebro, Sweden
Eligibility/Qualification:
Applicants must meet general and specific entry requirements for doctoral studies in Biology. This includes holding at least 120 credits in biology, including an independent project, as well as a further 30 credits on the second cycle. Proficiency in plant physiology, molecular biology, and plant photobiology is advantageous.
Job Description:
The doctoral student will be involved in designing and performing factorial experiments to assess plant responses to UV and visible light at multiple levels (gene, protein, and metabolite). Additionally, the role entails assessing how UV in combination with other light qualities modulate the plant transcriptome and identifying new molecular players involved in plant responses to UV and visible light.
How to Apply:
Interested candidates can apply online through the university’s application portal. The application requirements include a completed application form, CV, copies of degree certificates, and other relevant documents to verify eligibility. Application documents and attachments are to be written in Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, or English.
