Research Area:
The doctoral student will be part of the National ATMP school at Karolinska Institutet, working with the Lanner lab to further develop and GMP adapt a protocol for producing highly functional insulin-producing cells for the treatment of diabetes.

Karolinska Institutet, Solna or Huddinge, Sweden

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Hold a second-cycle/advanced/master qualification or equivalent knowledge in relevant fields such as pluripotent stem cells, diabetes, differentiation into insulin-producing islets, flow cytometry, microscopy, large-scale cell culture, cell therapy, and GMP
  • Show proficiency in English equivalent to the course English B/English 6 at Swedish upper secondary school

Job Description:
The doctoral student will upscale and GMP adapt the current pancreatic islet differentiation protocol, conduct safety and functionality testing of the cells in vitro and in animal models, and evaluate new transplantation strategies for the developed cells. The position is a full-time, maximum 4-year doctoral studentship.
