PhD Scholarship Opportunity: We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join the Genomic Regulation Lab (STOP lab) led by Dr. hab. Kinga Kamieniarz-Gdula at Adam Mickiewicz University. Study Area

The research focuses on understanding the selection of alternative gene ends in human cells. The project investigates the crosstalk between RNA cleavage and transcription termination using CRISPR/Cas9 to modify DNA elements and NGS transcriptomics techniques to analyze the effects.

Scholarship Description

The PhD position is offered by the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the Faculty of Biology & Center for Advanced Technology. The project aims to uncover the mechanisms behind alternative 3′ end selection in genes, which is crucial for understanding gene regulation in differentiation and disease contexts.

Eligibility

Essential Qualifications:

  • MSc in Molecular Biology/Biotechnology or a related science degree (to be obtained by 30 Sept 2024)
  • Experience in standard Molecular Biology/Biochemistry techniques
  • High motivation and enthusiasm for research
  • Fluency in English

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with NGS techniques (particularly RNA-seq and ChIP-seq)
  • Experience with cell culture and CRISPR/Cas9 modified cell line generation
  • Bioinformatic skills
  • Co-authorship in relevant publications
