- Investigation of hydrogen combustion characteristics under varying pressures and temperatures
- Development of mechanisms to understand hydrogen combustion, accounting for chemical and residual gas effects
- Utilization of software such as CHEMKIN, CONVERGE, FOAM, and in-house developed MATLAB codes
- Application of findings to decarbonize heavy goods vehicles and drive the transition to net-zero energy solutions
Location: Brunel University London
Eligibility/Qualification:
Applicants are required to have, or be expected to receive, a minimum 2:1 or 1st class degree in mechanical, aerospace, chemical engineering, chemistry, or related disciplines. Proficiency in programming and knowledge in Chemical Kinetics or Combustion is essential. A master’s qualification is advantageous but not essential.
Job Description:
The successful applicant will undertake a pioneering research project focusing on understanding and addressing challenges related to hydrogen combustion in heavy-duty engines. This will involve utilizing advanced software tools, investigating combustion characteristics under various conditions, and contributing to the development of net-zero energy technologies.
