We are offering a postdoctoral position in the group of Elena Rugarli at the Cologne Excellence Cluster on Cellular Stress Responses in Aging-Associated Diseases (CECAD) and the Institute for Genetics. The position focuses on exploring the role of mitochondrial quality control in neurodegenerative diseases, with a particular emphasis on RNA-binding proteins.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Doctoral degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Neurobiology, or a related field.
  • Practical experience in molecular, biochemical, and cell biology techniques.
  • Preferred: Experience in RNA biology, translational regulation, and structural biology.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently in an international research environment.
  • Proactive, flexible, and possesses a problem-solving attitude.

Job Description:

  • Develop and lead a research project focused on understanding how the RNA-binding protein CLUH regulates mRNAs that encode mitochondrial proteins.
  • Conduct independent research under the guidance of the Principal Investigator.
  • Accurately record and analyze data, adhering to good scientific practices.
  • Collaborate with leading groups in mitochondrial medicine, including those at the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing.
