Postdoctoral Fellow – Functional Genetics: A postdoctoral position is open in the laboratory of Dr. Javier Garcia-Bermudez at Children’s Medical Center Research Institute (CRI), UT Southwestern. Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, cancer biology, genetics, bioinformatics, or related fields.
  • Candidates expecting to receive their degree soon are also encouraged to apply.

Job Description:
The postdoctoral fellow will work in a dynamic research environment, employing CRISPR/Cas9 genetic screens and other innovative techniques to investigate pathways that counteract metabolic stress in cancer cells. Ongoing projects include:

  • Identifying uncharacterized antioxidant pathways in tumors and exploring them as therapeutic targets.
  • Investigating metabolic dependencies of cancer cells in the tumor microenvironment.
  • Exploring the metabolic vulnerabilities of therapy-resistant cancer cells.
  • Uncovering novel roles of regulated cell death programs using optogenetics and genetic screens.
