Ph.D. Student: Developing Next-Generation Neural Interfaces

  • Focus on creating a multi-channel, optoelectronic device capable of emitting multiple wavelengths for precise neural circuit control

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Required qualification: Upper-second or first-class BSc Honours degree, or a Master’s degree in Physics, Engineering, or related disciplines
  • Full funding available for UK Nationals meeting residency requirements, settled status individuals, pre-settled status holders, or those with indefinite leave to remain or enter the UK

Job Description:

  • Collaborate with a well-resourced team of researchers including physicists, engineers, and neuroscientists
  • Work on developing novel neural interface technology for optogenetic control of neural circuits
  • Create a multi-wavelength optoelectronic device for precise activation and inhibition of specific neural circuits
  • Utilize cutting-edge laboratory facilities and semiconductor microfabrication cleanroom for device fabrication and testing
  • Collaborate with international partners across the Institute of Photonics and the Fraunhofer Centre for Applied Photonics
