Fully Funded EPSRC and Swansea Ph.D. Scholarship: Patchy Sweet Bullets Against Bacteria (RS687)

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Hold a UK bachelor’s degree with Upper Second Class honors in Chemistry or related subject OR overseas equivalent with equivalent grades OR a master’s degree with overall ‘Merit’ in Chemistry or related field.
  • Meet English Language proficiency requirements.
  • Open to applicants eligible to pay UK tuition fees.

Job Description:

  • Work on engineering heterogeneous glycosystems targeting various bacterial populations with high selectivity.
  • Employ an interdisciplinary approach combining polymer and glycochemistry.
  • Characterize materials using SEM, AFM, and TEM.
  • Assess efficacy against different bacterial strains.
  • Receive training from an expert supervisory team in chemistry, natural products, and microbiology.
