Postdoctoral Researcher in Microbial Symbioses: The Beinart Lab at the University of Rhode Island’s Graduate School of Oceanography is looking for a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join an international collaboration exploring the evolution, cellular biology, and biogeochemistry of symbioses in anaerobic eukaryotes. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in anaerobic microbiology, archaeal biology, protistology, symbiosis, or microbial ‘omics and contribute to project objectives utilizing cutting-edge omics, microscopy, and physiological methods.

Postdoctoral Researcher in Marine Microbial Symbioses

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in microbiology, marine biology, cell biology, or related field.
  • Background and experience in anaerobic microbiology, archaeal biology, protistology, symbiosis, and/or microbial ‘omics.
  • Familiarity with omics methods, microscopy, and physiological experiments is preferred.

Job Description: The postdoctoral researcher will join a project funded by the Human Frontier Science Program in collaboration with researchers at Lund University and OIST. This project, titled “Deciphering the Evolution, Cellular Biology and Biogeochemistry of Symbioses in Anaerobic Eukaryotes,” focuses on understanding the physiology, evolutionary history, and cellular biology of anaerobic ciliate symbioses. The researcher will conduct in-depth experiments utilizing omics approaches, microscopy, and physiological methods to contribute to this research. This role includes a two-year funding period with benefits and is an in-person position based in Rhode Island.
