Eligibility/Qualification

  • Required Degree: A minimum of a 2:1 honours degree (or international equivalent) in physics, materials engineering, or a related subject.
  • Desirable Experience: Relevant Master’s degree and/or experience in lithography, thin-film deposition techniques, or characterisation of electric/magnetic properties.

Description

This interdisciplinary project focuses on creating and characterising innovative devices that employ optically-controlled efficient, fast, and reconfigurable nanoscale heating. Potential applications include controlled switching and motion of magnetic domains, and unconventional computing. Students will utilise advanced techniques such as nanolithography, thin-film deposition, and various characterisation methodologies to explore novel materials and their applications in energy-efficient technologies.
