Description
The project will explore:
- Robust definitions of disease elimination based on the risk of resurgence
- Taxonomy of diseases that have seen resurgence and their underlying reasons
- Mathematical conditions leading to resurgence following successful elimination campaigns
- Modelling tools to support policy decisions regarding disease resurgence
- Evaluation of potential resurgence cases in real-world settings beyond 2030 (e.g., viral hepatitis)
The selected candidate will receive training in quantitative methodologies, literature review techniques, advanced statistical analysis, and effective communication of scientific results. Opportunities for attending conferences, summer schools, and a work placement with UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) will be available.
