– Basic knowledge of steels
– Experience in microstructure characterization is advantageous

Description

This project will explore alloy design through thermodynamical calculations to create a specific steel composition with high versatility in tailoring microstructure. Key processes include:

  • Vessel Phase Approach: To create compositional inhomogeneities, thereby facilitating the formation of a refined multi-phase microstructure during thermomechanical treatment.
  • Basic Research: Focused on identifying and understanding hydrogen embrittlement mechanisms in charged samples, followed by developing strategies to improve hydrogen embrittlement resistance through thermomechanical treatments or alloying element additions.

The position is funded for a duration of three years, with a salary according to the German salary scale for the public sector (TVÖD E13).
