PhD Position in Astrocyte Dysfunction, Amsterdam UMC, Netherlands

Postdoc in Netherlands
PhD Position in Astrocyte Dysfunction: The Amsterdam Leukodystrophy Center is offering a PhD position focused on understanding astrocyte dysfunction in the leukodystrophy MLC. This collaborative research project aims to develop therapeutic interventions targeting MLC-related proteins to restore astrocyte function.

PhD Position in Understanding and Repairing Astrocyte Dysfunction in the Leukodystrophy MLC

Designation

PhD Candidate

DetailInformation
Research AreaNeurobiology, Biomedical Sciences
LocationAmsterdam UMC

Contract DurationFixed-term (12 months, with the intention to extend)
Salary Scale€3,017 to €3,824 gross per month

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Master’s degree in Neurosciences or Biomedical Sciences.
  • Proven interest in (cellular) neuroscience, especially related to neurological diseases or astrocyte physiology.
  • Article 9 qualification for animal experimentation.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Highly motivated and capable of working independently and in a team.

The selected candidate will work on characterizing new animal models and studying therapeutic interventions aimed at restoring normal function in astrocytes.

Responsibilities:

  • Familiarization with astrocyte physiology and disease mechanisms related to MLC.
  • Characterization of new transgenic animal models and comparison with existing ones.
  • Conducting molecular and cellular studies to investigate potential therapeutic compounds.
